We are pleased to show the art of Michael Wheeler along with daughters Teresa and Monica Wheeler.
Their work showcases familiar landscapes with realistic execution.
Michael was born in Pittsburgh in 1952. Michael Wheeler was educated at the Carnegie Institute Museum and continued at the Carnegie Mellon University.
His mother and father, artists themselves, strongly encouraged him to develop his own artistic talent. He chose American landscape as his main subject and drew inspiration from the environment in which he lives. His portrayal of nature is harmonious and effortless; peaceful and inviting; never exaggerated. He lives among the trees he paints. He breathes the air and feels the sunlight he paints. The effect is unique to him.
Wheeler's work has earned him numerous awards throughout the country: Gold Medal, National Scholastic Art Exhibit, New York, 1970; winner in Kentucky Artist Postcard Series, Bowling Green, 1984; US Art Magazine Award, Arts for the Parks, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, 1989 and others.
His daughters, following in their father's footsteps, are developing a name for themselves in the art community. Monica enjoys watercolors of still life, landscapes and floral studies. Teresa paints on canvas and has a gift for placing people in landscape scenes. Michael's work is acrylic on canvas
