Dean was raised on a tobacco farm on the upper reaches of Paint Creek/Paintsville Lake in Morgan County, Kentucky. He grew up working, hunting and exploring the ridges, valleys and hollows of this scenic region. Dean has a world of experiences traveling and working in Southeast Asia and the western US that has influenced the way he looks at the world through a camera lens.
Dean and his wife, Karen, live at the upper end of Paintsville Lake. He is pursuing several photographic projects that showcase the landscapes and culture of Eastern Kentucky.
